SeemaCrafts Challenge Blog

Welcome fellow Bloggers, Crafters and most importantly, Friends...

First of all, I would like to apologise for not posting this at the start of the Challenge (1st November). I was stuck with no broadband for a day and a half, and my 3G was not good enough to get me onto the blogging page. The downside to living in the country, you have rubbish broadband!!!

On the 1st of each month, SeemaCrafts starts a new Challenge over on their Challenge Blog

http://seemacrafts.blogspot.co.uk/

SeemaCrafts isn't just a Challenge Blog. Seema, the owner, makes gorgeous hand made embellishments (which you will see in some of the previous Challenges, such as the Butterflies challenge). There are also other crafty items up for sale. The shop is always worth a look, lots of bargains to be had.
Prizes are offered by either SeemaCrafts, or one of our amazingly wonderful sponsors. Please see main blog post for more details on prizes.

This months Challenge is something nice and easy and would cheer anyone up....

Bright and Colourful

I don't know about you, but at this time of year I get a bit tired of Christmas cards, so this Challenge gave me chance to make something different....

Unfortunately, quite a few of our Design Team are down with illness, so were unable to take part in the Challenge. Due to this, I stepped up and made three Design Team pieces to hopefully give people lots of inspiration.

Here is what I made....

I had amazing fun making these, and used colours that I wouldn't usually use.

I got messy with inks, pens, distressing tools...and used many embossing folders that I haven't gotten around to using.

I hope these cards give you a little bit of inspiration and inspire you to pop along to SeemaCrafts Challenge Blog and join in with the fun.....Its time to let your hair down and get out those colours you always want to use, but are too scared too lol

SeemaCrafts Challenge Blog

WOW get me, two posts in one day!
(This post was meant to be published earlier, however I seem to have messed up the scheduling lol).

Pinch, punch, first day of the month and no returns!
Seeing as today is the first of a brand new month, that means one thing....a great new Challenge Theme over of SeemaCrafts Challenge Blog
'Autumn Colours'.

The entry doesn't have to be autumn themed, but it must be made with those gorgeous autumn colours
Browns
Rich reds
Golds
Oranges
Greens
Bronzes

This month you can win a £10 voucher to spend in the wonderful SeemaCrafts Shop!!!
Seema, the owner of SeemaCrafts, makes wonderful embellishments as well as having some gorgeous stock in her online shop.
She is generously giving this prize as we have reached 150 followers YAY

This month, I wanted to make something that was totally not autumn or season related, but using the gorgeous colours.
Here is what I made....

I matted and layers using some textured Matt gold mirri card and some wood look paper from a limited edition paper pad.

The digi image was one I found in my computer folders, however I don't know who the designer is...if you do, please let me know so I can update my blog to give them some well deserved credit!
I am so so pleased with how the image came out. The colouring looks full of depth and well blended...(if I do say so myself).

I used some peel offs which I haven't used for agesssss.
I also cut some bunting with a gorgeous Joy Crafts die.

I wanted to achieve a card that was perfect for younger boys, and I think I did that.

I really hope this has inspired you to pop over to the SeemaCrafys blog to enter their Challenge....what a fantastic bonus of the £10 voucher this month....

Thank you to everyone who visits my blog and shows me continued support.

LEJ Designs Challenge #73

Welcome fellow bloggers, crafters and most importantly, friends.

It seems like ages since I have blogged a Design Team piece for LEJ Designs. I had to skip the last challenge due to being on Holibobs. I had such a lovely relaxing time, I didn't want to come home!

This weeks Challenge theme is...
'Things With Wings'.
Now, this could be insects, animals, mythical creature or mechanical wings etc...let your imagination and creativity flow.

Every weekly challenge has a first prize of wonderful LEJ Designs Images, as well as a small second crafty prize. Our crafty prizes are provided by one of our amazing sponsors.
For details of our sponsors, rules, terms and conditions and shop, please visit our main blog page by clicking the picture below...

Right, here is the card I made for the challenge.

I decided against using one of the gorgeous images. I used one of the backing papers and sentiment (both available in the LEJ Designs shop).

I imported the backing paper and sentiments into SERIF Craft Artist and changed the colour.
I then used a Kanban stamp set 'tropical birds' to stamp over the background with two Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

I stamped the small butterfly stamp around the sentiment and distressed the edging.

I stamped the humming bird onto a separate piece of card, painted this with the same distress ink and then cut the image out.
I used clear embossing powder to heat emboss the bird.

I used an x-cut die for the sentiment edging, and then a border die, which I added a length of ribbon to.

I finished this card off with some purple and black flat backed gems, as well as a strip of the backing paper inside the card.

I loved getting inky fingers while making this card, and was shocked that I didn't get finger prints all over it.

I hope this card has inspired you to join in with the challenge. We love looking at everyone's makes and how talented people are.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog.

Just For Fun - Challenge 2

The second challenge over at 'Just For Fun' Challenge Blog started on the 1st of the month.
Half of the Design Team made projects for the start of the challenge, and the other half of the Design Team have made projects for half way through the month as a little extra inspiration.

Just For Fun Challenge Blog is just what it states on the tin....Just For Fun. Some months we will have prizes, that have been donated to the Challenge Blog, and some months we won't.
We do have Badges that the winners and top 3 can place on their blogs to show that they have been a winner on our blog.

Septembers theme is...... COLOURS OF AUTUMN

Please either click on the link or picture below, to take you to the amazing Just For Fun Challenge Blog....

I have to say, the makes of the first half of the Design Team, were absolutely amazing. I had a high standard to live up too.....

So......He is what I came up with......

I picked a polkadoodles image from one of their CDs. I thought the image went well with the rustic look I wanted to achieve with the card.
I coloured the image with my Spectrum Noir pens. I have to say that I am really pleased with how this image came out. I tried to use darker colours around the edges of the image areas, to give it more dimension.
I diecut shapes to match the card blank I had in my stash. I used a matt ribbed gold card as I thought that gold mirri would look too new and would take away from the tone of the card.
I got out my distress inks and leave stamps and got to work on the card base and the edges of the layers.
The leaves were made with a punch and embossing set. I inked the main leaf and then inked the edges to give them an autumn dried look.
I put it all together and used a roll of hessian ribbon that I have had for a while. I have looked for this ribbon everywhere as I am running out and wanted some more, however I cannot find any.

I hope this has inspired you to go and have a look at the Challenge Blog and join in with the challenge.
We have a prize this month, which was donated by the wonderful Marie Richardson

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and leave such lovely comments.

Please click the below picture to take you to the LEJ Challenge Blog. The blogpost will show the winners from last week, as well as badges for your blogs.

Now for what i have made.....

I have used an LEJ backing paper and sentiment to make my card.

I used my new hexagon dies to cut round the sentiment and for the matting of it.
I used my indigoBlu flitter glue and gilding flakes to distress edge the backing paper and sentiment.
The card was finished off with gems, distress ink, flowers, skeleton leaves, lace and a ribbon slider.

I have to say, I am really pleased with how this card looks, and I think it fits the theme perfectly.

Once again, thank you to all the lovely people who pop back all the time to leave such lovely comments on my blog posts.

Keep well and keep crafting everyone...

What I made

I absolutely loved the Nature Inspired theme, it let my imagination run wild and allowed me to get VERY messy.

The image I used is an absolutely gorgeous LEJ Designs one and I found it so easy to colour in. Its a versatile image and looks gorgeous on cards.

I individually punched the leaves and embossed them in a wonderful punch set I have (couldn't find a makers name on them).
I then used several of the Rangers and Tim Holtz Distress Inks to colour the leaves in. I used different colours for the main body of the leaf and the tips, to give them that autumn drying out look and feel.
I made the card base from a sheet of A3 card that I had in my stock. I stamped and stencilled all over the card base with the same distress inks I used for the leaves.
I used a couple of dies to make the sentiment/comment box and some gorgeous green ribbon from my stash.
I then used lots of silicone glue to make the leaves dimensional and layered.

I am so proud of how this card has turned out and that I used a brand new fold to me.
I hope it will inspire you to get your inks and pens out and join in our wonderful Nature Themed Challenge.

Second prize is Crafty Goodies.

All images used in the Design Team makes are from the LEJ Shop and drawn by the very talented Lindsay Elise Jolly, who is also the owner of the company.
The images are unique and very easy to colour. Some gorgeous new ones have been added to the shop...Please keep popping in, as there are always new images as well as the occasional freebie up for grabs.

The Challenge Blog has recently had a big DT drive, and I am please to announce that we have a number of new crafters join us. Please see the tab at the top of my blog for details of who they are, and the links to their blogs.

Now to my make......

I will admit, I struggled a lot with this. I wanted to make a wedding card that was different. I love the white and classy wedding cards, but these aren't for everyone.
I will warn you, the backing paper is a bit bright in the photo, but it isn't as bright in the real light.
I used two different wedding papers, as well as some diecuts, time holtz distress ink, Patterned silver mirri card, flowers frame and sentiment printed from Serif Craft Artist and some Lace and gems from my stash.

I did warn you it wasn't a traditional wedding card....It's worth a playing around with something different once in a while.

I hope you can pop over and enter the 'Lovely Lace' theme and also visit the shop to see what LEJ Designs have to offer.

Thank you once again for your wonderful visit and your kind words on my blog.

Welcome Friends, Crafters and Fellow Bloggers...

It's the start of a new month which means one thing.... A brand new challenge over on

SeemaCrafts is not only a Challenge Blog, but a shop as well. Seema makes the most gorgeous hand made embellishments and the butterflies used in the Design Team pieces this month are from the SeemaCrafts shop.

This months challenge theme is 'Butterflies'. It would be nice to see some butterflies as the main theme of the makes, rather than just small embellishments.

I hope you will take a look over on the Challenge Blog and Shop and hopefully the makes will inspire you to join in with this wonderful theme. There are crafty prizes up for grabs from one of our amazing sponsors...please see blog post for more details.

Here is what I have made....

What I used...

Canvas Board - from The Works
Butterfly Embellishments - from SeemaCrafts
Butterfly Stamps - from Kanban
Guesso - from The Range
Stayzon Ink
Tim Holtz Distress Ink
Various sized paper roses - from eBay

Skeleton Leaves

For the texture on the Canvas Board, I used Guesso mixed with some Distress Ink Re-inker. This makes a lovely clear textured layer with a colouring to it.
I loved making this piece, as I got very messy and was able to let myself go and just layer with ink and guesso and then more guesso lol
