LEJ Designs Challenge #73

Welcome fellow bloggers, crafters and most importantly, friends.

It seems like ages since I have blogged a Design Team piece for LEJ Designs. I had to skip the last challenge due to being on Holibobs. I had such a lovely relaxing time, I didn't want to come home!

This weeks Challenge theme is...
'Things With Wings'.
Now, this could be insects, animals, mythical creature or mechanical wings etc...let your imagination and creativity flow.

Every weekly challenge has a first prize of wonderful LEJ Designs Images, as well as a small second crafty prize. Our crafty prizes are provided by one of our amazing sponsors.
For details of our sponsors, rules, terms and conditions and shop, please visit our main blog page by clicking the picture below...

Right, here is the card I made for the challenge.

I decided against using one of the gorgeous images. I used one of the backing papers and sentiment (both available in the LEJ Designs shop).

I imported the backing paper and sentiments into SERIF Craft Artist and changed the colour.
I then used a Kanban stamp set 'tropical birds' to stamp over the background with two Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

I stamped the small butterfly stamp around the sentiment and distressed the edging.

I stamped the humming bird onto a separate piece of card, painted this with the same distress ink and then cut the image out.
I used clear embossing powder to heat emboss the bird.

I used an x-cut die for the sentiment edging, and then a border die, which I added a length of ribbon to.

I finished this card off with some purple and black flat backed gems, as well as a strip of the backing paper inside the card.

I loved getting inky fingers while making this card, and was shocked that I didn't get finger prints all over it.

I hope this card has inspired you to join in with the challenge. We love looking at everyone's makes and how talented people are.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog.

Just For Fun - Challenge 2

The second challenge over at 'Just For Fun' Challenge Blog started on the 1st of the month.
Half of the Design Team made projects for the start of the challenge, and the other half of the Design Team have made projects for half way through the month as a little extra inspiration.

Just For Fun Challenge Blog is just what it states on the tin....Just For Fun. Some months we will have prizes, that have been donated to the Challenge Blog, and some months we won't.
We do have Badges that the winners and top 3 can place on their blogs to show that they have been a winner on our blog.

Septembers theme is...... COLOURS OF AUTUMN

Please either click on the link or picture below, to take you to the amazing Just For Fun Challenge Blog....

I have to say, the makes of the first half of the Design Team, were absolutely amazing. I had a high standard to live up too.....

So......He is what I came up with......

I picked a polkadoodles image from one of their CDs. I thought the image went well with the rustic look I wanted to achieve with the card.
I coloured the image with my Spectrum Noir pens. I have to say that I am really pleased with how this image came out. I tried to use darker colours around the edges of the image areas, to give it more dimension.
I diecut shapes to match the card blank I had in my stash. I used a matt ribbed gold card as I thought that gold mirri would look too new and would take away from the tone of the card.
I got out my distress inks and leave stamps and got to work on the card base and the edges of the layers.
The leaves were made with a punch and embossing set. I inked the main leaf and then inked the edges to give them an autumn dried look.
I put it all together and used a roll of hessian ribbon that I have had for a while. I have looked for this ribbon everywhere as I am running out and wanted some more, however I cannot find any.

I hope this has inspired you to go and have a look at the Challenge Blog and join in with the challenge.
We have a prize this month, which was donated by the wonderful Marie Richardson

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and leave such lovely comments.

Welcome back fellow bloggers, crafters and friends.

It is that time again for a brand new theme over on the LEJ Designs Challenge Blog.
This weeks theme is 'Something Shiny'......(my pressure keeps popping into my mind lol).

LEJ Designs is owned by Lindsay Elise Jolly who also designs their very gorgeous and unique Digital Images.
Please click on the below link to take you to their Digi Shop

The shop is always worth a look, as new items are added frequently, and some freebie up for grabs.

Please click the below picture to take you to the LEJ Challenge Blog. The blogpost will show the winners from last week, as well as badges for your blogs.

Now for what i have made.....

I have used an LEJ backing paper and sentiment to make my card.

I used my new hexagon dies to cut round the sentiment and for the matting of it.
I used my indigoBlu flitter glue and gilding flakes to distress edge the backing paper and sentiment.
The card was finished off with gems, distress ink, flowers, skeleton leaves, lace and a ribbon slider.

I have to say, I am really pleased with how this card looks, and I think it fits the theme perfectly.

Once again, thank you to all the lovely people who pop back all the time to leave such lovely comments on my blog posts.

Keep well and keep crafting everyone...

SeemaCrafts Challenge

Welcome Fellow Bloggers, Crafters and most importantly Friends....

Today is the launch of Septembers challenge 'Monochromatic', over on SeemaCrafts

I will admit, I always thought monochromatic was black and white, however this challenge has taught me that it actually means 'tones/shades of the same colour'....every day is a school day. Even though I have learnt this, I still chose black and white as my theme lol
SeemaCrafts is not only a challenge blog, but Seema, the owner, also makes embellishments that she sells in her shop on the blog. Please have a look as she puts in so much time and effort into what she makes.

This month, the challenge is sponsored by the fabulous LEJ Designs, who design their own gorgeous Digi Stamps and backing papers. The shop is always worth a look as there are often freebies up for grabs.

For last months Winner and runners up, please see the original blog post by clicking the below link

What I made for the Challenge

The Card Opened.
The snow flakes are stamped with FlitterGlu and then white glitter added.
The Image is from a Serif Craft Artist Digi Kit. I have used some glitter pen and then some puff ink that you paint on, heat and it puffs up.

Front of the Card, Closed.
This has been stamped with a snow flake stamp and finished with a black satin edged ribbon.

Back of the Card.
I have used two diecuts stuck over the ribbon that has been used to tie the card together.
This was a brand new fold for me, that I found on Pinterest. I love the simplicity of the fold, with the gorgeous complicated look to it. This shape is a great one to decorate and you can change the shape of the card base to give it an even more different look.

I hope you like this card, I loved making it.... I hope it has inspired you to go over to the blog and join in this wonderful challenge. As a challenge blog, we pride ourselves on always leaving comments on entries, as we appreciate how much time people put into their entries.
Thank you for your visit...
