Vintage/Shabby Chic Basket

I purchased a basket from a place called 'butters' which provides the big supermarkets with their flower arrangements and bouquets.

What I used:

Weaves square basket
White paint
Off white lace
Large white paper tea rose
4 smaller white paper roses
wooden button
Brown and white raffier string
leaves sprig x 2
Pearl string

The basket I painted in white inside and out. I used small grain sandpaper to sand back some of the paint to make it duller, older and a bit battered.
I then stuck the lace around the bottom half of the basket using red sticky tape. To cover the join in the lace I used the large tea rose.
I tied the raffia string through the holes in the button and stuck the button to the middle of the rose.
I placed two smaller roses either side of the larger one.
I gently sanded the two leaf sprigs to make them fit in with the style of the basket.
I finished this all off by gluing the pearl string around the bottom of the basket lip.

I am pleased with how this piece turned out and my mum loved it so much that she has pinched it, along with the desk tidy I made.

Hi Lisa, this is SO creative. I just found Crafty Embelies Challenge Blog, and while I do make a lot of cards, I do also make altered art projects, so here is my question:
Can U.S. residents play along? I would LOVE to join in the fun. Thanks, and if you could stop by my blog to leave a response, that would be great!

Also, I have a challenge blog, and you can always share ANYTHING. I'd just LOVE to have you share your beautiful creations with us here:
