SeemaCrafts - Mixed Media Challenge

WOOHOO My first Design Team piece for 'SeemaCrafts'

Junes Challenge is 'Mixed Media' and opens for enteries on the 1st June 2013. For this challenge we would like people to use your imagination and think outside the box.
We love cards being entered, however this challenge is for people to get messy and use what they have always wanted to use. Because of the theme, we would like more than just 'Paper, Ribbon and Embellishments' used on a card.

Mixed media can be from glass to wood to metal to inks to varnishes etc.....Raid your crafty stash and garages/sheds and let your creativity run wild :D

This challenge will run for a month over on SeemaCrafts

SeemaCrafts also have a website, youtube channel and a facebook group, please click the following links for further information:

HELP FOR HEROS.....

After the recent tragic events, I would like to post the HELP FOR HEROES link.
It would be wonderful if people could donate to this worthwhile charity, and show support for our troops of the past, present and future as well as those fallen ones.

If we all donated just £1 then it would make a huge difference to the people who are directly and indirectly affected by this charity.

Rest in Peace Lee and all the other fallen and injured soldiers.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

'Blog Of The Week', New DT and What I've been up too

What I've Been Doing

Well, I have been on Slimming World for about 6 weeks now and I finally hit my '1 stone award' as well as my 'Bronze Body Magic'. For the body magic and weight loss I have been doing lots and lots of exercise and cooking. Due to this, I haven't had much time to do anything but make the odd card at night.

I have now found an even balance between the weight loss and my love of crafting.....

Blog Of The Week

I have won 'Blog Of The Week' over on the All Things Crafty group on Facebook.
I am so happy to win this as I haven't had much time to blog of late and felt my blog was being neglected. This has spurred me on to blog more again.....
I am just waiting on the badge for this, so I can show it off on my blog sidebar.

 New Design Teams

I am so so pleased to announce that I have been asked to joining the Design Team of Seema's Crafts
This Challenge blog is still quite new and I am excited to join the team and promote the blog and its lovely owner.
Seema Crafts currently have a challenge running 'Alter a match box' and there are some gorgeous prizes up for grabs. Pop over and have a look....

I am also very pleased to be asked to join the Design Team for The Friendly Crafters group on Facebook. This is a different kind of Design Team as there isn't a challenge blog.
The role of the DT is to help answer crafters questions, judge monthly group challenges and make tutorials for the challenge themes.
Please pop over and have a look, all new and existing crafters are welcome.

Cards I Have Made

I wont bother trying to explain how I have made ALL of these, but if you want any details then please just ask......

Colourful Boy

Welcome followers, friends and fellow blog people. Hope you have all had a great day....

Today I spent most of it in bed or in the little girls room as I have a very bad stomach bug. Haven't eaten much at all today, should help with the diet lol

I took this evening to sit down and make a card. This is a bit different for me, as its a card for a young boy. I saw the image on the Katy Sue CD and fell in love with it. I teamed it up with matching paper from the CD as well as a backing sheet from kanban and some coredinations.

The colours I thought matched the image well and were nice and summery.

I'm not sure about this card yet, I think it's because it's not what I usually do!

Thank you to the regular commenters who always take the time to visit me, as well as the new visitors who leave comments....

A few cards...

Just a few cards from the last couple of days.

Haven't had time to craft today as I've been exercising lots to help with my slimming world diet...fingers crossed it will show on the scales come Tuesday!

Well, back to crafting. Here's my cards and I have used a couple of dies I got with my birthday money....

I hope you like then as much as I enjoyed making them.

Something Different....

It was pointed out that the 'mad crafters giggles' Facebook group is mainly geared around card makers. It wasn't meant to be like this, it just seems that the group challenges are entered by card crafters.
Due to this, I suggested a week of 'anything goes' for the daily challenges and that we should all try making something other than a card for at least on of the days.

Eager to put into practice what I had suggested, I altered a canvas the first day of 'anything goes'.

I sprayed the canvas with spun sugar re inker, water and mica powder. I then cut a heart out using a large due on pearly paper.
I arranged small sized pink buttons around the edge of the heart. I used an x-cut letter die to cut the word 'Love' and arranged these in the middle of the heart and then added a gorgeous pink glass heart button.

Very simple, but I am proud with my mixed media piece of work.

Card Making Machine!!

Hello fellow crafty people...hope you are all well?!

All those of you on my Facebook will know that I have been on slimming world and this week all went wrong! Bingeing, no exercise and bad psychologist appointment....
Due to the bad stuff I have turned to crafting as a comfort. I have been a card making machine this week and made loads!!!

I won't bore you all with what I used etc as there are a few cards....I will just post the pictures :-)

Hopefully this will make you smile...this is why Winston isn't allowed in my craft room, he loves paper too much lol

Take care everyone and happy crafting. Thank you for the visits and the love you leave

hugs Lisa xxxx

Addicted to Gorjuss

Good morning :-)
Yes it's very late/early, but I can't sleep again. I don't mind as I'm crafting rather than wasting the hours.

Looking through my topper stash this morning, I came across a load of gorjuss packs. I used one of the larger toppers earlier, so chose a small card blank to use one if the smaller toppers.

I'm really liking these darker looking cards. In the shops you can get cute, serious, funny and themed cards, however no one is filling the gothic/alternative gap in the card market.
I am going to try making more darker cards. If they are popular then great, if they aren't I haven't lost a lot have I!

Once again, thank you for taking the time to visit and leave such heart warming comments.
I hope you have all kept safe in this awful windy weather?!

Bright and Dark

Hello fellow crafty people :-) Hope you are all well and looking after yourselves in this awful windy weather?!

Yesterday was a longgggg day and even though I was so tired I looked dead on my feet, I couldn't sleep!
At 12:30am I found myself making a card :-)

I had purchased some kanban topper sheets in a shop here for 50p each so thought I would use one of them.

I diecut the card and the backing shapes and distressed the edges of some of them. I highlighted areas with glossy accents and then mica/ink sprayed the flowers to match the bow.

I am really pleased with how this card turned out....

Considering I didn't sleep that well, I was up early and making another card lol
Because I was tired and felt slightly grumpy, I made a card that showed my mood lol

I used a Gorjuss topper and tag, and some shimmer embossed card that I found in my stash :-)

I used eyelets and twine and some diecuts.

I used glossy accents again to highlight some of the areas of the tag.

This is very different to the first card, however I love it just as much...

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and leave lovely comments.
